ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

I am a public health and sociology student with a passion for lifelong-learning and social justice. I am most interested in advancing global understanding and challenging colonial epistemologies, particularly as they pertain to health and medicine.

Both my parents are Jamaican immigrants, but I was born and raised in the United States. This experience has provided me with perspectives on both the Black American and Caribbean identities. My time as Resident Advisor with Ujamaa—a historically Black dorm at Cornell University—further informed this insight.

My time travelling to India, South Africa, and Argentina to study public health informed my desire to study health outcomes and enhanced a curiosity in people and cultures across the globe. I hope to travel more and gain an even deeper understanding of Indigenous and minoritized knowledge systems.

As Administrative Assistant, I am excited to engage with social justice movements and community organizers to learn more about their work and how to use their knowledge to make an impact myself. I am passionate about the Aurora Commons mission of assisting these groups in making a better world.
